Place of birth: Mesitas del Colegio, Colombia
Place of residence: Montreal, Quebec
Diego Herrera, known as Yayo, emigrated to Montreal from a small Colombian
village in 1987. Yayo specializes in cartoons and humorous illustrations
for children and has exhibited his drawings in about 15 countries, including
Japan, Brazil, France, Yougoslavia and Russia. He loves children and likes
to depict the world in an entertaining fashion. He has published illustrated
books for children and has illustrated magazine articles in Canada and
the United States. His drawings and cartoons have received several awards.
Yayo is a member of Communication-Jeunesse, the Association des créateurs
et intervenants de la bande-dessinée (ACIBD) and the Association
des illustrateurs et illustratrices du Québec (AIIQ).
