JO ELLEN BOGART

Place of birth: Houston, Texas
Place of residence: Guelph, Ontario

Jo Ellen Bogart, who became a dual citizen of Canada and the United States in 1994, spent the early part of her life in Texas, moving from Houston, to San Antonio, to Dallas, and back to Houston. When studying at the University of Texas in Austin, she earned degrees in elementary education and psychology and met her husband, a Canadian zoologist. In 1975 they moved to Guelph, where they have been living ever since. Jo Ellen Bogart lists her interests as reading, writing, playing with her computer, looking after her pets (an Australian shepherd, an Argentine desert tortoise, an African clawed frog, a chipmunk, a guinea pig, and a water turtle), gardening, and, last but not least, her family. She enjoys reading from her books and talking to children in elementary schools and libraries.
