User Card Registration Form

Users who wish to undertake research or to consult the holdings in Library and Archives Canada (LAC) facilities must obtain a user card. This card is valid for two years.

To obtain your user card number prior to your visit, you will have to:

  • Read and agree to abide by the terms and conditions of LAC contained in the User Agreement.
  • Fill out the online form. You will receive your user card number by email in the next two working days.

To obtain your user card, you will have to:

  • present yourself to the registration desk just inside the front door of LAC's building.
  • show a photo ID card.
  • sign your user card.

This online form allows you also to renew your user card. You can fill out this form in-person at the registration desk as well.
