Preservation

Introduction

Library and Archives Canada (LAC) is responsible for the long-term preservation of their fonds and collections, and for making them accessible to the public through circulation, loans, reproduction and treatment. Preservation is a core activity at LAC. In addition, LAC plays a leading role in the conservation and preservation of the documentary heritage of Canada. A large part of the preservation / conservation work is done at the Center for Preservation in Gatineau.
