Welcome to The Canadian Poetry Audio Archives, Canada's first online bilingual poetry audio archive. The key objective of this pilot project is to connect students, teachers, and Canadian literary enthusiasts with the riches of our country's diverse literary heritage and, in so doing, educate and inspire a new generation of Canadian writers and readers.
In order to realize this goal, Library and Archives Canada has digitized a sampling of contemporary recordings of Canada's most acclaimed poets, reading from their works. In addition, the poetry database introduces users to transcripts of Canadian Poetry from past and present, as well as rare archival photographs and documents. As LAC's digital collection continues to grow, The Canadian Poetry Audio Archives will reflect Canada's cultural and creative diversity. LAC gratefully acknowledges the contribution of the Department of Canadian Heritage, whose financial assistance through the Canadian Culture Online Program made this work possible.
