Portée et contenu
Sub-series consists of photographs of Alberta documenting the administration of public lands and the development and conservation of their natural resources. The photographic series was originally compiled from both federal and provincial sources including numerous sub-agencies and survey branches of the Department of the Interior. Photographs were also acquired from private sources and independent photographers from Alberta and across Canada. The sub-series is organized alpha-numerically as follows. A-1 series consists of photographs documenting agricultural production and development in Alberta. Sources include the Trade and Commerce Branch and the Immigration and Colonization Branch of the Department of the Interior. Photos by the Canadian Pacific Railway Company, W.J. Kerr (1927), W.D. Albright (1927), McDermid Studios of Edmonton, Alberta and other sources. A-2 series consists of photographs documenting forestry and forest reserves in Alberta. Sources include the Forestry Branch of the Department of the Interior. A photo collection was noted in the branch office by the Royal Commision on Public Records by 1913. Photos by the Canadian National Railway Company, Foresty Branch photographers, Central Experimental Farm at Ft. Vermillion, Alberta, W.D. Albright and other sources. A-3 series consists of photographs documenting mining industries and resources in Alberta, primarily the coal industry. Sources include the Mines Branch of the Department of the Interior. Photos by the Geological Survey of Canada, McDermid of Edmonton, Harry Pollard of Calgary and other sources. This series is now part of the David Brown Collection. See photo accession 1988-196. A-4 series consists of photographs documenting fisheries reserves, development and conservation in Alberta. No sources or photographers are indicated.
