Mining and industrial activity in Canada.

Many photographs in these albums are also found in the work of the Natural Resources Intelligence Branch, acc. no. 1936-271. These are usually noted with the NRIB reference number. A list in the accession file to 1969-152 gives the NRIB reference numbers for which images exist in the current accession but not in 1936-271..

Some photographs are the work of the Topographical Surveys of Canada, and negatives for these images might be found as negatives in acc. no. 1960-125 or acc. no. 1965-40. The negative numbers of these items are usually visible on the prints..

Some of the Alberta mining photographs appear to duplicate those found in the David Brown collection, acc. no. 1988-196..

The caption lists were found at the beginning of most of the albums. Approximately 80% of all photos are described at the item level and, in some instances, give more information than is available in the captions found in the albums. A number of caption lists do not correspond to photos found in this accession; annotations indicate that they were sent to "Forestry Branch", probably about the time the lists were made, as the annotation is in the same hand as that.
