Scope and content

This map of the Americas at the begining of European settlement in North America provides considerable, interesting detail on European knowledge and misinformation of the New World. The Amazon and the River de la Plata both begin from a common lake in the interior of South America. The Great lakes are not present. North America has an elgongated northern part while the present day United States east coast has an enlarged bay. One of the cartouches in the upper left portion of the map which discusses the possible link between the Davis Strait and the Aman Fretum.

Map is decorated with cartouches, a large scene of Brazilian natives brewing and partaking of a ceremonial beverage, sea monsters, indigenous birds, native canoes and sailing vessels.

On verso: title L'Ameriqve with page number 689 and signature Mmmmmmmm.
