Offers his views of what is "expedient & right" on church questions, and comments on two enclosed newspaper clippings illustrating perceptions of his "High Church" perspectives. Notes that Lady Elgin has taken visitors to Niagara Falls, that he and Elma will join her there that evening. (Two newspaper clippings, dated 4 and 9 August 1851, enclosed)
