Comments on relative accuracy of varying reports in the press, the hostile relations between French and British at Montreal, and merchant bankruptcies there; views the Rebellion Losses Bill a pretext for opposition to Lord Elgin and comments on attitudes toward him and the rebellion in various districts; burning of effigies and his efforts to prepare an Address to Lord Elgin and concern with the St Andrew's Society.
