Lady Elgin often complains that Lord Elgin does not tell her his plans. Lord Elgin's departure from Canada. Parliamentary session. Reference to a letter of [Edward] Ellice [The Elder] in which he wrote that Lord Elgin would shirk the responsibility of settling the Clergy Reserve and Seigneurial questions and throw it upon his successor.
