Comments on news of the ship AMANDA POWERS carrying Fenian arms to Portland, and on notifying Newfoundland of risks there; and a second report by his agent sent to Troy. Enclosed: copy of private letter from Harry John Murray to Pierrepont Edwards (British Consulate, Portland, 7 June 1867), comments on the arrival of the AMANDA POWERS and the potential risk to St. John's, Newfoundland; and on Fenianism in the vicinity, also a copy of letter "No. 2" from "Thomas P. Jones" [alias of Fitzpatrick ?] to Pierrepont Edwards (St. Alban's, 8 June 1867), reports tracking Fenians from Buffalo, on plans against St. John's and the gathering of arms via Portland; and on a Fenian agent in the New York police force.
