Scope and content

Reports the departure of "President" Roberts for Brest, France, whether to secure French aid or see the Paris Exhibition and visit Rome; also has sent his photograph to the Foreign Office, closed the bargain with Fitzpatrick and forwarded descriptions of Fenian agents to Sir John Michel. Enclosed: extract from a letter from Henry O'Hara [alias of Capt. Rudolph Fitzpatrick] to [Pierrepont Edwards] (31 May 1867), reports on Fenian armaments and describes leaders; and comments on the reliability of newspaper reports.
