Comments on a letter from W. R. Roberts to W. R. Harmer as indicative of Fenian efforts to secure assistance from American officials; and on specific purchases of guns; promises to supply information and asks for funds for travel and bribes. Enclosed: letter from William R. Roberts to W. R. Harmer (New York, 8 April 1866), asks that Harmer intercede with Governor Curtin of Pennsylvania to authorize the sale of arms and war materiel to the Fenians [Annotated on verso by John Smith regarding purchase of war materiels by W R Roberts and the interception of funds by Sweeny.]
