Scope and content
A landscape depicting the Horseshoe Falls viewed from a balcony on the opposite shore of the Niagara River. The Balcony, which may be part of the Clifton Hotel, has an unfinished balustrade showing the outlines of square balusters. Outside the balustrade at the right of the work are two columns with plain shafts and capitals consisting of plain curved moldings. The columns support an upper structure. Part of a building appears at the right edge of the work. At the left, Terrapin Tower rises above the Falls at the northwestern corner of Goat Island. Two figures seated on the ground are seen through the balustrade. The land rises to the right and there are several buildings and trees in the distance.
