Scope and content

A marine scene depicting vessels on the St. Lawrence River at Montmorency Falls as viewed from the western end of Île d'Orléans. In the middle ground there is a square-rigged brig with three masts and gun ports along the hull. Behind the brig is a timbered floating dock. Approaching the brig is a vessel with fore and aft rigging containing four figures. Closer to the foreground is a manned Royal Navy ship's boat flying an ensign. Other masted vessels are in the background. The land rises behind the Montmorency Falls in the distance.
