Scope and content

A marine scene at Kingston viewed from Lake Ontario at the head of the St. Lawrence River. At the right are buildings of the town on a rise of land. Fore and aft rigged sailing vessels turn around a wharf on which several figures stand behind railings. Other sailing vessels move beyond the wharf in the distance. In the middleground at the right figures are disembarking from a boat and walking towards the town. At the right of the foreground, a figure is sitting bent over a task in a fore and aft rigged vessel.
