Scope and content
The subject is an exterior view of Notre-Dame Cathedral, showing the apse, the central nave, the projection of the transept and the two unfinished towers covered with pitched roofs. Elements of the Gothic revival style include crockets and a lancet window in the apse. The bell tower of Notre-Dame Church is partially obscured by the tower at the right. In the foreground are buildings along the water's edge. A boat with two figures is in the River.
