Scope and content
A landscape depicting a view of buildings, fences and vegetation at Chateau-Richer on the north shore of the St. Lawrence River. At the left of the scene is a steep grassy hill with bushes. Below the hill is a road leading from the foreground towards a group of three buildings which are partially obscured by the bushes on the hill. Of these buildings, the one closest to the viewer has a steep bellcast gable roof. All three have chimneys located at the gable roof apex. At the right of the work is a partial view of a wooden building located on the far side of the road. It has a gable roof and a door located at the near end of the side facing the road. There is an unidentified [lattice] structure located just below the eaves of the visible roof face. Three planks are leaning up against the wall facing the road. Next to the building at the right, further along the road, is an area [enclosed] by a split-rail fence. Beyond the fence, the land is flat then rises in the distance. In the background, beyond the group of three buildings, is a mountainous area.
