Scope and content
A landscape depicting a partial view of the Horseshoe Falls, Terrapin Tower and the western end of Goat Island from the Canadian shore of the Niagara River. The circular tower, located on exposed rocks beyond the western end of Goat Island at the brink of the Falls, is barely visible through the branches of a tree at the left of the composition. Below the tower at the bottom of the Falls are several exposed rocks. The artist has depicted the curvature of the Falls and the water mists rising above them. At the right of the background are several roughly sketched buildings located behind vegetation on a high point further along the Canadian shore.
