Scope and content
A riverscape / marine scene depicting a view of several masted sailing vessels sailing in the distance along the [Hudson River] in a mountainous region where the land rises sharply from the shoreline. The vessels appear to be moving away from a relatively wider part of the River where the viewer is located to a narrower passage ahead. The vessel closest to the viewer appears to have a single mast with a fore and aft rigged sail.
