Scope and content
A marine scene depicting a view from near the Canadian shore of the Niagara River at Queenston of the dock and buildings on the opposing shore at Lewiston. Alongside the shore is a stern wheeler steamship having a central paddle wheel enclosed by a paddle box located in the stern of the vessel. Forward of the wheel are two funnels. Several buildings with gable roofs are located on a hill above the dock. The largest building has three stories and a chimney at each end of the roof at the apex. One of these buildings may be the American Hotel located at the Lewiston boat landing. In the background is the vegetation along the American shore of the river. In the foreground three birds fly close to the surface of the water.
