Scope and content
A landscape depicting a view of buildings, split-rail fences and vegetation at Cascades Rapids on the St. Lawrence River. At the right of the work is a front gabled building with a door on the gabled façade. The door is surrounded by a trellis partially covered in vegetation. It projects from the façade and curves around the top of the door. The house is surrounded by a [picket] fence. Two figures wearing hats are located in the centre foreground next to part of a split-rail fence. One is holding a pole. In the distance beyond the rapids is a land mass with vegetation and the suggestion of buildings.
