A landscape / marine scene depicting a view of the Beauharnois Canal at Cedars [Les Cèdres]. At the left of the work is the spire of Saint-Joseph-de-Soulange. At the right edge of the Canal is a bridge house with a gable roof and a chimney at the roof apex. In front of the building is a windlass connected to a lift bridge in the lowered position across the canal. Beyond the bridge, a vessel with a single square-rigged sail moves along the canal into the distance.
