Scope and content
A marine scene depicting a view of a bay and its surrounding vegetation at Beaumont across from Île d'Orléans. In the foreground pieces of wood are protruding from the sandy shore. A fore and aft rigged vessel sails in the bay and other vessels sail beyond in the River. In the distance at the centre of the composition a row of stakes used to support fishing nets extends from the shore into the River. At the left of the work is the western end of the island with buildings following its shoreline. In the background beyond the far side of the Island is the mountainous north shore.
