Scope and content

A riverscape / marine scene depicting a view of the St. Lawrence River and Île d'Orléans from the south shore at Beaumont. A manned ship's boat flying a white ensign with a St. George's cross is drawn up on the rocky shore. Some of the figures in the boat are wearing red garments. At the left of the work is a wooded area where the land gradually rises. Below the wooded area is a wooden building and a beached vessel. Several fore and aft rigged sailing vessels sail in the River. The artist has suggested buildings following the shoreline of Île d'Orléans.
