Scope and content
The title refers to St. Helen's Island. A marine scene depicting a sailing vessel, a schooner having two masts and fore and aft rigging, in the St. Lawrence River with St. Helen's Island in the background. A red pennant flies from the masthead of the foremast. On the island, the artist has suggested buildings, the masts of sailing vessels and vegetation. Behind the Island in the distance is Mount Royal.
