Scope and content
A marine scene depicting the timber promenade pier extending into The Solent at Ryde. Figures walk along the pier. At the end of it is a navigation lamp and [stairs] going down to the water where a paddle steamer with its funnel and paddle wheel sit. In the foreground at the right is a single-masted fore and aft rigged vessel without its sails. Several other fore and aft rigged vessels are located around the pier. In the background are the buildings of Ryde.
