1 drawing: pencil on blue wove paper; 16x24.3 cm (image); 26x36 cm (folio)

Scope and content

The title may refer to the garden of the Château Haldimand. The subject is a marine scene depicting two- and three-masted square-rigged vessels and single-masted fore and aft rigged vessels in the St. Lawrence River below the promontory of Cap Diamant. Buildings of Lower Town follow the shoreline and wharves extend into the water. At the top left of the work is the martello tower located at the top of Cap Diamant on the Plains of Abraham. The tower has a conical roof.
