Scope and content

The subject is a riverscape / marine scene depicting a view from the Niagara River of surrounding vegetation and the first Brock's Monument on Queenston Heights. The monument has a columnar structure and the viewing platform is visible at the top. At the right of the work a two-masted fore and aft rigged vessel is sailing on the River.
