Scope and content

The subject is a marine scene depicting a single-masted barge with a square rig and one sail. A figure sits at the tiller. Among several logs floating on the water, a figure stands in a boat while manoeuvering it with a pole. Three other vessels can be seen in the distance. In the background a landmass rises from the shoreline.
