Scope and content

The subject is a marine scene depicting in the foreground a single-masted, square-rigged manned vessel in the St. Lawrence River at Quebec. In the background is a steep promontory rising from the shoreline along which buildings have been sketched. A second masted vessel lies in the water in the middleground.
