Scope and content
Title refers to the artist's sister, Alice Anne Caroline. Drawn on HMS Hastings. The figure is wearing boots, an outer garment with a sloping shoulder line and a poke bonnet with a cylindrical crown and a broad funnel brim. A ribbon is tied around the crown and under the chin. The figure is seated next to a dog. A mast and the rail are roughly sketched.
