Map reflects the early Dutch exploration in the new world and is largely based on a manuscript map by Adriaen Block, a Dutch fur trader who explored the area between Cape Cod and Manhatten. Map is oriented so the noth is to the right.
Illustrated with depictions of animals (deer, foxes, bears,egerts, rabbits, cranes, beavers, polecats, otters and turkeys) and ships at sea. Also includes decorative title cartouche with native Americans, as well as scale cartouche.
