Scope and content
This series consists of both textual and graphic material of and about Ken Bell and his career. This includes plaques and certificates from Professional Photographers of Canada and its predecessor, the Commercial and Press Photographers Association of Canada, Professional Association of America, the Professional Photographers of Ontario, the Art Directors Club of Toronto etc. The series also includes correspondence including a letter from the photographer Gilbert Milne and General Sir Miles Dempsey. The rest of the correspondence deals with Bell's honours and awards. In addition, the series contains personal photographs of Ken Bell and family members, including images of his youth during the 1930s and his work in the studio with staff members. In addition this series includes photographic slides used by Ken Bell during his teaching career at the Ontario College of Art. These photos include "How-to" tutorials and examples of what he considered his best work. The series also contains textual material, which includes contracts for the Rice and Bell photography studio, newspaper clippings about him and his work and a letter to his staff about work standards.
