Scope and content

This series consists of Ken Bell's commercial work in fashion, advertising, photojournalism, book publications and other paid assignments. His advertisement work includes the original assignment envelopes, which holds the original negatives, contact sheets, prints and textual records such as invoices, notes or correspondence. His work in advertisements includes the following corporations: Simpson Sears, Texaco Canada Ltd., Wool Bureau of Canada and Cockfield Brown & Co. Ltd, etc. His photojournalist assignment includes photo essays and articles for magazine and newspaper supplements, such as Maclean's Magazine, The Montreal Standard and Weekend Magazine. The series also contains tear sheets of his published photojournalist work and advertisements in magazines, newspapers and posters. In addition, this series includes photographs for books such as, "Santa Maria Cookbook", "Rabbit Cookbook", "Oil Lamps: The Kerosene Era in North America", and "Collecting Canada's Past". (See sub-series World War Two for his other books "The Way We Were", "Curtain Call", and "Not in Vain" and series Cardinal Léger for images in "A Man and his Mission".) This series also includes photojournalist work of Candian landscapes, major sites and its people, including: Toronto; aeiral views of Hamilton, Ontario; Quebec City; Val d'Or, Quebec and the Arctic.
