Appearing on western sheet : "The position of places in this map are laid down according to the determinations of Admiral Bayfield, the U.S. Coast Survey and the British Admiralty, but more recent observations with the electric telegraph place Montreal in long. 73°33'00", Kingston in 76°28'30", Toronto in 79°23'15" & Windsor in 83°02'00" W.

Plate no 42 appears in upper right margin of Province of Canada (Western sheet) while plate no 43 appears in upper right margin of Province of Canada (Eastern sheet)
