Scope and content
This group represented the sixth historic group at the Historical Fancy Dress Ball hosted by Lord and Lady Aberdeen on February 17th, 1896. Twenty-six characters from this group danced a gavotte at the ball, which had been arranged by dance instructor Professor Norman. Front row, seated on the floor: Miss Laura Smith; Mr. Critchley; V. Brown Wallis; Mr. Dumoulin; Miss Cassels. Second row, seated: Miss Malloch; Miss Smith; Miss Lola Powell; Mrs. Crombie; Mrs. John N. Kirchoffer as "Madame de Lotbinière"; Miss Moylan; Mrs. Morris. Third row: Mr. Gill; Miss Clayton; Miss Gwynne; Charles J. Jones, in pale mauve, as "Baron de Courcelles"; Charles Berkely Powell, in red, as "Marquis de Tracy"; Miss Girouard; M. Taylor; Mrs. F. White; Mr. Middleton. Fourth row: E. Waldo; Waterford Lake Marler as "Count de Frontenac"; Alexander Ferguson, QC, as "Jean Talon."
