Additional information

A.G. Bell patented his invention for the transmission of speech over wires in 1876. The following year, he founded the Bell Telephone Company. He invented phototypes of many other inventions in common use today, and perfected the gramophone. The flight of his plane, the SILVER DART at Baddeck 23 February 1909, is generally accepted as the first powered, heavier-than-air flight in Canada.
