The sitter is Sir George Simpson, Governor of the Hudson's Bay Company. The image depicts a balding man, wearing a white ruffled shirt with black cravat, and black top coat with deep collar.
Although there is the following note on this record: "Blind stamp of printseller's association," no stamp is evident upon examination of this print.
