Scope and content

Left profile sketch of the head and shoulders of an indian woman. Comparison with 1990-207-95X identifies this work as a sketch of Nancy Lewis by Lady Falkland. Micmac indians were popular subjects with Lady Falkland. She collected examples by McKie and Nutting and executed several herself. The relationship between Falkland and these Nova Scotian women is not clear.
