Scope and content
A view of the city of Quebec with several sailboats in the foreground. This work was probably done on May 27, 1838. On May 27, Ellice wrote in her diary,"...Got a peep at Quebec about 1/2 past 11 - with its tin spires glittering in the Sun...The approach to Quebec however is quite beautiful. We anchored about 12 o'clock." (Canada: Oberon, 1975. p.31).
Watercolour removed from album. This work was originally glued to a secondary support. The album page, folio 13, was cut to frame the image that was glued to its verso. Original secondary support and mount attached separately.
