Scope and content
Watercolour study of a tonsured monk drinking the last drop out of a cask. Hudson was assistant private secretary to Lady Falkland's father, William IV, from 1830-37. He was appointed resident gentleman usher to Queen Adelaide in 1831. He was in Italy on political business in 1834. The penciled inscription may be the artists initials, with the city where he did the sketch.
1990-207-9X is also executed by Hudson.
The inscription on the secondary support is in Lady Falkland's handwriting.
