Scope and content

View of the Deccan plain with tablelands beyond. Dapoorie was the official residence of the governor of Bombay during the monsoon season. Lady Falkland visited it every year during her husband's governorship (1848-53). She mentions this in Chow-Chow, the book she wrote about their eastern travels. (1857. London: Hurst and Blackett, vol 1.)
