Scope and content
This study shows three italian commedia dell'arte figures playing cards. Their different costumes represent the cities inscribed below (Bologna, Venice, and Naples). Hudson was assistant private secretary to Lady Falkland's father, William IV, from 1830-37. He was appointed resident gentleman usher to Queen Adelaide in 1831.
The inscription on the secondary support is in Lady Falkland's handwriting.
1990-207-26X is also attributed to Hudson.
