Scope and content

A modern copy of a seventeenth century painting. The copy done by Henri Beau on commission from Arthur Doughty.
Henri Beau was an employee of the Public Archives of Canada from 1915 to 1938, being employed in the Paris office specifically to copy views, portraits, etc. and to carry out iconographic research. See Pierre Lallier, Henri Beau (Musee du Quebec, 1992).
