Letter from Adjutant General Calvert to Sir George Prevost, 15th January 1812,commenting on frequency of corporal punishment inflicted in certain regiments. Brock to Prevost, 12th February 1812, declining to avail himself to leave to visit England, "being now placed in a high ostensible situation and the state of public affairs with the American Government indicating a strong presumption of an approching rupture between the two countries, I beg leave to be allowed to remain in my present command."
