Scope and content

Sub-series consists of central registry files relating to relations with seamen and crews, a function administered through the Nautical Services within Marine Services. These files were assigned the 8650 and 8700 block within the Transport Central registry and some of the records were brought forward from the old registries of the Department of Marine and Fisheries. Subjects include, but are not limited to, income tax, investigations, seamen strikes, union relations, sick and injured seamen, investigations, and merchant marine during the Second World War.
