Scope and content
Sub-series consists of central registry files related to the function of marine international relations which falls within the structure of the Marine Services. For many years there was the Bureau of International and Environmental Affairs and an Inter-governmental Maritime Consultative Organization (IMCO) Coordinator within the Marine Services. The records were assigned the 8100 block in the Transport central registry. Subjects include, but are not limited to, the Imperial Shipping Committee, standards of training, Inter-governmental Maritime Consultative Organization (IMCO), Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), convention on combined transport, United States' Meteorological Service, legal issues, International containers conference, International Joint Commission, International Boundary Waters, pilot rules, League of Nations, International Labor [sic] Office, marine relations with foreign countries, merchant seamen, trade treaties, pollution and relations with the United States.
