Scope and content

The series consists of sketchbooks, drawings, caricatures, and printed images depicting the political life of the country during the period 1860-1908; images of the RCMP in the north-west in 1874; the Montreal winter carnival 1887-8; and historic subjects. The sketchbooks are titled: House of Commons sketchbook (54 drawings), and Sketchbook of political figures (30 drawings). Also included are large images titled: Chasse galerie, La débacle, and Découverte du Canada; and drawings by John Wilson Bengough (1851-1923), Arthur George Racey (1852-1908), and William Curikshank (1848-1922).
